Gunsmoke Synopses
The Gunsmoke radio series first aired on the CBS radio network on April 26, 1952 with the episode "Billy the Kid." The series last nine years with the series ending broadcast coming on June 18, 1961. The series cast regulars were William Conrad (Matt Dillon), Howard McNear (Charles "Doc" Adams), Georgia Ellis (Kitty Russell) and Parley Bear (Chester Wesley Proudfoot.) Some of the supporting cast included John Dehner, Vic Perrin, Barney Phillips, James Nusser, Virginia Gregg, Jeanette Nolan, among others. The Producer/Director was Norman MacDonnell. Writers were John Meston, Les Crutchfield, John Dunkel, Marian Clark and Kathleen Hite. The announcer was George Walsh and music composition and conducting was handled by Rex Koury.
